In this short video blog, Justice Jawara Alami discusses the importance of commercial dispute resolution in The Gambia. The Gambia joined SIFoCC in 2018 when Chief Justice Hassan Jallow nominated Justice Alami to participate in the SIFoCC Judicial Observation Programme. During this programme, along with representatives from Sri Lanka and Uganda, Justice Alami spent a week in the Business and Property Courts in London studying best practice and developing judicial peer to peer relationships. Justice Alami sits in the High Court in Banjul, The Gambia and has presided over commercial matters since 2017.
Gambia’s membership of SIFoCC has received financial and technical assistance from ROLE UK and UK aid and further information can be found on this collaboration in Peer to Peer Learning in Action: A Case Study
